Friday at Last!

The start of the week whizzed by but since Wednesday it's been going so slowly.  Paul has gone back down to the coast and I'm missing him very much.  I decided to keep myself busy though and came up with this LO for the UKS Weekly Challenge:

The challenge was to scrap something other than a person, use a sketch, use ribbon and use bling.  I ticked all the boxes so full points yet again.  I found the sketch on The Scraproom Blog.

I know that this isn't grammatically correct but it's what we always say to Alfie when he's been naughty.  It's a phrase that's used often in this house and it does make us laugh!

This afternoon I'm going to start knitting a llama for Maddie

Ready to Snuggle In

I finally finished Maddie's quilt at about 1:30 this morning!  I hand sewed the edge binding on and my eyes were so sore when I put the last stitch in.  I'm really pleased with it, my first attempt at machine quilting, and I hope she's going to look after it.

She chose the material, something to brighten her room up.

I added the lilac to break it up a bit

I have the top of a lap quilt ready so I might get the machine out and do something a bit more elaborate than just stitching in the ditch.

Another Week Gone

I had a lovely surprise earlier in the week, I got a gorgeous bouquet of flowers from my friend Lynne for my birthday.

I went to my crop yesterday and had a great time.  Claire, Chocolate_ee on UKS, did a lovely class for us.  She really is so talented and such a great teacher so I am unable to take any credit for this gorgeous LO but had to show it off.

This weeks weekly challenge on UKS was to scrap an old photo and write about the memory.  I found a photo of me taken 28 years ago!  It was taken in my aunt's garden when summers were hot and I loved to do cartwheels, doing a cartwheel now would surely break my arms!  I used this months Sarah's Card's Sketch Challenge for the LO so I killed 2 birds with 1 stone.

This evening I'm just finishing the hand sewing on a quilt I've been making for Maddie, it's been a lot of fun to do and I'm hoping I'll be able to show it off tomorrow.

Spring Clean Sunday

Ok I know it's not spring but the sun was shining through the window this morning and everything look so dusty so I had a mad cleaning session.  I had planned to scrap all day but I feel better now that everything is sparkling.

I went to bingo yesterday, had a voucher for my birthday but, as usual, I was just there to make the numbers up!  Got down to one number a few times so at least I got my heart rate up for a bit lol

Yesterday I finally finished sewing up a cardigan I've knitted.  I absolutely loved knitting it but sewing up is not one of my favourite things to do which is sort of strange because I love sewing.

I was pleased to find the perfect button in my scrapping stash

I'm half way through knitting the hat that goes with it and I'm hoping to get it finished by tonight so that I'll look like the smartest dog walker in the park tomorrow lol

Happy Birthday to ME!

I had such a lovely day today, I got some beautiful presents too.  PJs and 2 games for the Wii to help me lose all the weight that's been, I was going to say creeping when in all honesty it's been charging back on!  I also got some fantastic stash from my friends at Cheam Crop and I'll be showing you how I use it on some layouts I have planned.

My best friend took me out for a lovely lunch, a total surprise and delicious.  We went to the carvery

And had a sundae for dessert

Smothered in butterscotch sauce with a flake on the side

I was totally stuffed but my Mum gave me Just Dance for the Wii so I had to have a go as soon as I got home.  I managed 2, yes TWO, only 2 songs and then I was totally done in!  It's great fun though.

Now I'm just going to have a relaxing evening in front of the TV with my knitting just like the old dear I am becoming he he he

What a Grey Day

It's so overcast here today, I've been out and about shopping but it's nice to be home now.

I worked on a layout for the UKS Weekly Challenge yesterday. The theme was 'Forbidden Fruit', mine is cream teas. I love them so much but, luckly, only really have them in the summer.

I'm going to try and get the Happy Hookers Crochet book from the library today, I really do want to master this craft and I met set that as one of my goals for 2010.

I'm off to bingo tonight, really need to win some money so I can invest it in a lottery ticket that will win me millions..............I can dream can't I?!?!?

It's All White

We had another flurry of snow overnight so everything was back to being white this morning.  Took the dogs for a walk in the park, first time in the snow, and they loved it.

Had a lovely, relaxing Sunday and came up with a LO for the UKScrappers January House Challenge.  We had to scrap our habits, good or bad.  Here's my LO and it's bad!

I am an expert at running out of time, daydreaming and not getting anything done, it's all gonna change this year though!  Off to look for more challenges to do while I still have my MOJO.

It's Melting

The snow is finally starting to melt but we still keep having little flurries every now and then.  I've spent the weekend wrapped up indoors scrapping.

I did a LO for the Sarah's Cards Sketch Challenge:

I also did a LO for Scrapdolly's 52 in 10 challenge.  I wasn't going to join in the challenge but I couldn't resist in the end!

Got lots planned for today but the time is whizzing past so quickly, better get my finger out!

Playing with Paper

I'm still stuck indoors because of the snow but I've been enjoying myself and using my stash at the same time!

I came up with this LO for the UKS Weekly Challenge:

The photo was taken in 2001 and we were heading to a 25th Wedding Anniversary with a 70s theme.  I made my outfit but Maddie's jacket was a 70s original!

I also took part in the fun challenge set at Vanilla Sugar, Bubbly Funk's new challenge blog.  This month it was using coasters and I've come up with a fun money box to save up cash for stash!

I really enjoyed doing it and I plan to try lots of other things with coasters, looking forward to next month's challenge!

Elsewhere in the house Maddie and Alfie have been having a very lazy day!

Off to make something else now.....dinner....I'm sure it won't be as much fun to make as the money box was!

Snow Day!

Woke up this morning at 7, looked out of the window, saw the heavy snow fall and went straight back to bed....no school for Maddie today!  Found out at 7:50 that the school was still open, some very hardy teachers there, but it was too late to get ready and start shovelling snow so we've had a snow day.

It all looks so lovely but I hate the thought of having to drive in it.  It's been snowing almost all day now so we might be heading for another snow day tomorrow.

The past few nights I've been busy working on a cardigan. It's so cold here that I can't wait to get it finished.

I'm just working on the sleeves now and then I'll be able to sew it up and show it off.  Hopefully it'll be finished by the weekend.

I'm still trying to get the hang of crochet, it's going ok but I just need to practice, practice, practice!

Going to snuggle under the blanket on the sofa now with a good film and my knitting!

Rectangle is the New Square!

Well I had a go at crocheting and I have to say I got on slightly better than I did the last time I tried.  I just need to be patient, watch what I'm doing and try not to get my fingers in a tangle.  I didn't manage a square but I did do I cute-ish rectangle.  I will put in more practice because I did find it enjoyable and relaxing.

I've started coming down with a cold today and will probably look like Rudolf by tomorrow, not that great when Christmas is over!  So for tonight I will be having a nice, hot bubble bath, hot lemon and honey and then I'll just curl up on the sofa under the blankie and carry on with a cardigan that I'm knitting.

A Cold and Frosty Morning

Now that Alfie is better and Christmas and New Year are over and done with I started getting back in the routine of walking him over the park for an hour each morning.

Today it was bright but freezing and Jack Frost had certainly cast his magic over everything in the park:

I bought The Art of Crochet magazine today, it comes with a DVD, hook and yarn all for only 99 English pennies!  I won't buy the complete set because it would work out to nearly four hundred of the Queen's pounds just to make a blanket!!!  I got it for the DVD because, although my aunt has been trying to teach me since I was 7, I just cannot crochet.  I always feel like I need another hand but, as I don't like to be defeated, I'm going to give it another go. Watch this space for a picture of my creation......either a square or a big knot!

A Late Start to the New Year!

A very belated Hap Hap Happy New Year.

Alfie was really really poorly before Christmas, I thought he was going to die, so lots of visits to the vets put me very behind with everything I wanted to get done.

He has recovered and I have caught up at last.  I spent this weekend finishing off my Journal Your Christmas album, 13 LOs in a day and a half! Here it is in all of it's glory:

I had a great time doing it and can't wait for JYC 2010!
